2025S-Seminar #12 / Spring Semester Summary by M2 and D1 Students

2025.07.02

The summer atmosphere is growing stronger day by day, and the seminar series for this spring semester has also come to its final stage.

In today’s seminar, M2 students Tamura and Wei presented their respective research topics, followed by D1 student Theethad, who gave a presentation on the literatures he reviewed over the semester.

Now, let’s hear from the three of them about the insights and progress they have made in their research this semester.

田村 (Tamura)
During the spring semester, I worked on organizing the background of my research, relevant systems, and existing studies, while also making progress on dynamic modeling and preparing for a SP survey. In addition to conducting a literature review on the relevant systems, I was able to carry out interviews at apartment complexes in June, which helped deepen my understanding of the context surrounding EV chargers. Although the dynamic modeling and SP survey are still in progress, I hope to continue working on this project to make it a socially meaningful and original piece of research.

Since April, I’ve been diving deeper into the distribution of stay durations. By visualizing movement trajectories and working with estimated curves, I’ve come to realize that actual stay times are not as ideal as what’s often suggested in the literature. That said, I received a lot of valuable feedback during this presentation, which was incredibly helpful. I’m confident that with these insights, the issue will be resolved soon. On the other hand, exploring how different network structures affect the results has turned out to be a really fascinating part of the study. There are so many ideas I’d like to try out, and I’m genuinely looking forward to what comes next.

(Theethad)
In spring of 2025, I have been reviewing 3 main areas. Firstly, I learned the stochastic assignment model. I saw many essay explaining benefits from stochastic input and output flow from the model. Secondly, I read and reviewed network design from 3 papers. There are 2 approaches for objective function where first one is variation inequality and second one is total cost. We can select to either of them. Lastly, I reviewed disaster paper to see the variation of trip during recovery period. From now, i will focus on specific problem of network design during recovery period from my selected city and learn more about approximation method for solve my network design problem.
