Summer Research Seminar Tour / 夏の研究巡業

夏の研究巡業ウィークということで、東工大・筑波大合同ゼミ@つくば、土木学会全国大会&幹事会@西条、行動モデル夏の学校@本郷、招待レクチャー@桂を先週・今週で行いました。交通流、計画学、行動モデルと機械学習、復旧期交通と話題も多様でしたが、理論と社会の間をいったりきたりする中で、育んでいる面白さ・難しさを改めて感じました。

また、ポストコロナで、対面交流が戻りつつある中で、どうやって、個々の研究議論を活性化させていくのか（学生さんも含めて）、という話も懇親会で、たびたび議論しました。

Last week and this week, I participated in a series of academic events, including a joint seminar between Tokyo Tech and Tsukuba University in Tsukuba, the Civil Engineering Society National Conference and its executive meeting in Saijo, the Summer School on Behavioral Models in Hongo, and an invited lecture in Katsura. The topics ranged from traffic flow and planning studies to behavioral models and machine learning, as well as post-disaster transportation. Going back and forth between theory and social applications, I was reminded of the joys and challenges of the work we’re doing.

Additionally, as face-to-face interactions are gradually resuming in the post-COVID era, we frequently discussed how to invigorate individual research discussions, including those involving students, during social gatherings.
